About this snippets template

Dog quality of life scale, scored in the record

A pet quality of life scale and five more snippets for senior visits, hospice conversations and post-op checks, inserted wherever you already type. Pick the numbers from drop-down menus and the arithmetic is done for you: the quality of life total, the pain descriptor, the weight change. You keep the wording, and a score stays what it is, documentation of a conversation rather than a decision.

What is inside

  • /qol: the quality of life calculator. Seven categories scored 0 to 10, a total out of 70, and a note of where that total sits against the threshold commonly cited with the scale. The same sheet works as a cat quality of life scale. Structure follows the HHHHHMM Quality of Life Scale by Dr. Alice Villalobos (pawspice.com)
  • /pain: the acute pain score. Pick 0 to 4 and the descriptor and the reassessment line are written from the number, with room for what you observed and the analgesia on board. Score with whichever official canine pain scale or feline scale your practice has licensed
  • /qsum: the client-facing version, sharing today's score in two warm sentences

Shorter snippets for commonly typed lines:

  • /bcs the body condition score line, 1 to 9 with the ideal marked
  • /mcs the muscle condition score line, normal through severe loss
  • /wt the weight trend line: today, the last visit, and the change between them

How it works

Install the pack, then type a shortcut wherever you write records or client messages: practice software in the browser, email, and installed programs through the Text Blaze desktop app. Pick from the menus and the totals appear as it inserts.

Free to install. Use /qol at your next senior visit. Then save a line you type often as your own snippet: /bcs is a good first one, turning a whole sentence into four characters.
